DIFFICULTY

Here at Trail World, we split our groups in 3 difficulty categories. EASY, MEDIUM and HARD. Joining one of these categories depends on your experience as a trail runner, the overall distance of the runs and the pace you want to approach.
We usually assign a color to each difficulty category, similar to the way ski slopes are categorized – green for easy, red for medium, black for hard.

EASY  At this level, the trails are between 8 and 20 km long. The daily amount of altitude gain is around 1300 meters daily. The runs take about 5 hours, without counting the stops. Running is on flat surface or downhill, going uphill being made in the walking pace of the slowest runner in the group.

MEDIUM  At this level, trails variate between 16 and 42 km. The daily amount of  altitude gain per day can be over 2000m. The maximum time of the trails, without counting the breaks, is 6.5 hours. The running are on flat surface, downhill and some easy climbing. If opting for medium runs, you need some previous trail-running experience, excellent health and no balance issues or fear of heights.

HARD – At this level, the trails vary between 18 and 60 km/day. The daily amount of  altitude gain can sometimes be over 3000 meters in one run. The runs take about 8 hours medium-length and 11 hours maximum-length. Our hard tracks include exposed areas on the mountain edge, some parts of easy rock climbing with chains, suspended trails at high altitude.
